Fantasy Football: 5 Bold Predictions for Week 6
Ronald Jones Will Be an RB1
Ronald Jones has not had a good rookie season. The second-round draft pick struggled mightily in the preseason, finishing with more rushing attempts (28) than rushing yards (20). Following that disappointing start, he lost the battle for the starting job to Peyton Barber to begin the year and was a healthy scratch through Week 4.
He didn't shine in his only NFL action, but he did lead the team in rushing attempts (10) and rushing yards (29) in their blowout loss to the Chicago Bears. In Week 6 he draws a much more favorable matchup against the extremely-injured Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons are the 31st-ranked run defense in the league according to our power rankings, so even the struggling Tampa Bay Buccaneers should be able to get something going on the ground against them.
This is another game with a high over/under, so we should expect plenty of scoring on both sides. The Bucs are coming off of their bye, which means they've had extra time to make the change from Barber to Jones -- if that's what they want to do. Jones had a slightly higher Net Expected Points (NEP) per rush (the number of expected points a running back adds to their team's expected total with each rush) and Success Rate (the percentage of a back's carries that added positive NEP) than Barber in Jones' only game, so they may want to take an extensive look at their young back.
Jones has certainly struggled to open his rookie year, but this week he will finish as an RB1 in fantasy on the back of this incredible matchup.
