Greg Olsen Is Made of Iron

Greg Olsen is one tough guy. Last year, he missed a significant chunk of the season due to a fracture in his foot. Despite undergoing surgery, he returned at the end of that season to help the Carolina Panthers in their playoff push.

Flash forward to 2018, the veteran tight end re-injured that same foot back in Week 1. It was simply brutal for a player who, until 2017, had played a full 16 games in every season since his rookie year.

But the tough-as-nails tight end returned from that injury in Week 6 -- and he came back in impressive fashion. Olsen played 98% of the team's offensive snaps in his return, drawing 7 targets from Cam Newton and turning them into 4 receptions for 48 yards. Those aren't crazy numbers, but they're impressive considering the circumstances. And he instantly resumes his place as an every-week starter at a barren tight end position.

Those seven targets were tied for the seventh-most among tight ends this week, which means Olsen is already seeing top-tier usage despite being sidelined for the last five weeks. If you held onto him during that time, congratulations -- your patience has paid off.
