7 Deep Fantasy Football Sleepers for Week 7
Jermaine Kearse, WR, New York Jets
Yahoo! Ownership: 9%
The New York Jets receiving room is getting short on players. Terrelle Pryor has missed two practices this week with a groin injury and looks doubtful for Sunday. That is in addition to the news Quincy Enunwa would miss a few weeks with an ankle sprain. Enunwa and Pryor represent two of the top four target leaders on the Jets with the duo owing a 37.0% target share. The best candidate to soak up a good portion of the missing 10.8 targets the wideouts averaged per game is Jermaine Kearse.
Kearse currently sits as the number-two receiver on the Jets with 27 targets and 16 catches this season. The bulk of that damage was done just last week with Kearse seeing 10 targets and bringing in 9 of them for 94 yards. The former Seahawk saw a season-high 59 snaps as Enunwa was knocked out early, playing just 15.
With the Jets expected to be playing in a negative game script as underdogs to the Minnesota Vikings, Kearse and the passing game could see extra work on Sunday. Big plays are to be had, too, as the Vikes give up 8.9 yards per pass attempt, the fourth-highest rate in the league. In the last three games, the Vikings have allowed an average of 315.7 passing yards.
