Red Zone Market Shares

1. Amari Cooper Soaring in Dallas

Amari Cooper's trade from the Oakland Raiders to the Dallas Cowboys felt desperate and, frankly, like a waste of a draft pick for Jerry Jones and company. But Cooper has proved his value, turning in three touchdowns in a short span of time.

Cooper’s 11 red zone looks and 2 touchdowns don’t stand out as elite. But his 36.6 percent market share in the red zone is solid.

But seven of his red zone targets have come in his four games as a member of the Cowboys. He’s simply being seen and targeted in the red zone much more than he was in Oakland.

2. Ito Smith a Red Zone Hog for Atlanta

Surprisingly, Ito Smith is getting more red zone touches than teammate Tevin Coleman, who seemed like the incumbent to take over after Devonta Freeman went on IR earlier in the season.

But instead, the carries have been relatively split and Smith has benefitted from 18 red zone rushes, which he’s turned into 4 touchdowns. By comparison, Coleman has 15 red zone rushing attempts, only 1 touchdown and a 39.5 % market share in the red zone.

Smith is handling 47% of the red zone looks for Atlanta, and he’s the back to use if you need a low-end running back two or flex heading into the playoffs.
