5 NFL Red Zone Trends to Monitor for Week 15
Sony Michel Is Still Getting the Red Zone Work in New England
The return of Rex Burkhead in Week 13 looked like it might make the New England Patriots' backfield situation a messy one, and he does have 11 carries and 4 targets, while playing over 20% of the team's snaps in each of those two games.
It looks like Sony Michel is going to remain the top dog in scoring range though.
His 6 red zone opportunities in Week 14 were tied for the third-most in the NFL, and he accounted for a 66.7% red zone rushing market share. This comes after a Week 13 game in which he saw 4 of the team's 13 opportunities.
Other than Week 7, when Michel made an early exit due to injury, he has handled at least 30% of the team's red zone opportunities in every game he has played in. His opportunity market share in those contests sits at 36.3%, which would be the seventh-highest in the NFL over the entire season.
With a 33.3% share since Burkhead's return, it doesn't look like Michel's touchdown potential is going anywhere.
