5 NFL Red Zone Trends to Monitor for Week 16
More Touchdowns are in the Cards for Julian Edelman
Julian Edelman is the only player in the NFL with multiple red zone targets in each of the last three weeks, tallying seven in that stretch, which has been good for a 35.0% market share.
He missed the first four games of the season, but since his Week 5 debut he has handled 33.9% of the New England Patriots' red zone looks, so this hefty market share is nothing new.
That 33.9% market share is higher than all but four players have managed on the season, and since Week 5 only one player has more red zone targets than Edelman's 19 (Davante Adams, with 20).
Red zone volume is especially valuable in the New England offense, which has scored the seventh-most points in the NFL this season. Edelman is a target hog in scoring range, and he's well positioned to build on the four receiving touchdowns he has turned in so far.
