Fantasy Super Bowl week is not the time nor the place for a quarterback to turn in an absolute clunker. Unfortunately, that is exactly what Philip Rivers did in Week 16, playing his worst game of a season some felt heading into the week was worthy of MVP consideration.

Rivers was restricted to a mere 181 yards by the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday night, throwing zero touchdowns and two interceptions as the Los Angeles Chargers fell to a 22-10 loss. It was the first time all season that Rivers had not thrown a single touchdown pass. He finished with a meager 3.3 fantasy points, his lowest of the season. His previous cellar outing was 13.5 in Week 14.

According to numberFire metrics, Saturday was Rivers worst game of the season by a comfortable margin. Prior to Week 16, his lowest mark Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per drop back in a single game was 0.04 in Week 4. Against the Ravens, Rivers managed a wretched -0.35. While it won't matter so much for fantasy purposes, the Chargers will be hoping this was a one game blip on their way to the postseason. The Chargers' next opponent, the Denver Broncos, have the 9th-best passing defense according to numberFire rankings.
