The 5 Best Bets in the Late Rounds of Your Fantasy Football Draft
Marvin Jones, WR, Cincinnati Bengals
Marvin Jones currently has an ADP of 11.04, 50th among wide receivers. While he didn’t hit his stride until midway through last season, he's poised to outperform his ADP this year.
Jones saw little play time during his rookie year in 2012 and had a slow start to 2013, but he came into his own in a big way as the season progressed last year. From Week 8 on (including the Bengals playoff game), Jones averaged 6.6 targets per game, seeing 7 or more targets in 7 out of the 10 games in this stretch.
While preseason depth chart projections should be taken with a grain of salt, Jones is currently projected as the Bengals number two wideout, ahead of Mohamed Sanu. It would be surprising to see this change, as Jones outperformed Sanu by a wide margin last year.
Jones showed off major big play potential, ranking second in the league in Reception NEP per target (minimum 50 targets) in 2013. This is in stark contrast to Sanu, who finished 83rd out of the 90 qualifying receivers.
The increase in targets as last year progressed as well as locking up the second wide receiver spot for the Bengals should make for Marvin Jones seeing plenty of opportunities this year. And with how well he performed when the ball went his way in 2013, the pieces are falling in place for a big year from Jones.
