6 Things I Learned From Week 6 of the NFL Season
Tampa Bay's Secondary Is Atrocious
Is "atrocious" too strong of a word to describe the back-end of the Buccaneers defensive unit? I don't think so.
Entering Week 6, Tampa Bay ranked as the worst pass defense in the league according to our metrics. That only got worse against the Ravens. A lot worse. Joe Flacco did whatever he wanted to the defense on Sunday, putting together a 27.58 Passing NEP total. That's six more points than what Flacco's compiled all season long.
You just can't win in today's NFL if you can't defend the pass. If you don't believe me, the bottom eight teams in Adjusted Defensive Passing NEP prior to Week 6 were Tampa Bay, New Orleans, Jacksonville, Pittsburgh, Oakland, Cleveland and Washington. Go ahead and pinpoint the frightening squad out of that group.
Exactly.
