Tight End: Brent Celek
Brent Celek, TE, Philadelphia Eagles
4 Receptions, 134 Yards, 4 Targets
NEP: +9.90
This week's top performing tight end was Philadelphia's Brent Celek. His performance this week more than doubled both his total receiving yards and his Reception NEP on the season.
Brent Celek had a season-high 134 receiving yards in Philadelphia's 19-20 loss. His biggest play was a 60-yard gainer early in the first quarter where he just missed a touchdown before being chased down inside the 5-yard line. Despite being targeted only four times, Celek made each of them count, as he averaged 33.5 yards per catch on the day. Celek remains far off the typical redraft fantasy radar, but he showed relevance in best-ball leagues with this kind of outbreak.
Among other tight ends, Zach Miller also had a breakout game where he made some huge plays for the Bears. He finished the day catching all 5 of his targets for 107 yards, 2 touchdowns, and a +9.71 NEP on the day. Rob Gronkowski lived up to the billing in a "Gronk Week" where he had a tremendous matchup with the Giants. He went for 113 yards and a touchdown. Greg Olsen caught all 8 of his targets for 80 yards in a quiet, steady performance from the veteran. Gary Barnidge had his first good game with Johnny Manziel under center, catching 6 passes for 65 yards and a score. Aaron Rodgers connected with backup tight end Justin Perillo five different times for 58 yards and a touchdown.
