FanDuel Single-Game Daily Fantasy Football Helper: Week 5 Sunday Night

Week 5's Sunday Night Football clash features an exciting showdown between the Indianapolis Colts and Kansas City Chiefs. Following the main slate of action, fantasy enthusiasts can stay involved throughout the night by playing in FanDuel's Sunday night's single-game contests.

For those unfamiliar, single-game slates feature five flex spots with identical scoring to the main slate. However, kickers are included in these contests and there is an "MVP" roster slot. The MVP receives 1.5-times his total fantasy points, making this spot crucial.

Bookmakers currently peg the Chiefs as 11.0-point favorites with a 56.0point over/under. With a projected high-scoring affair in store, here are the notable matchups to target on this slate.

MVP Considerations

Patrick Mahomes ($17,500) - With the quarterback carrying elevated importance on single game slates, Patrick Mahomes stands out above Jacoby Brissett. Leading the NFL in passing, Mahomes currently averages 377.5 passing yards per game. The Colts currently rank bottom-12 in passing defense, according to numberFire schedule-adjusted metrics. Improving matters, the Chiefs stand as 11.0-point favorites in a game with 56.0-point total. With a ceiling above all other players on this slate, Mahomes deserves consideration even at an elevated price.

Travis Kelce ($13,000) - Looking at Mahomes' pass catchers, Travis Kelce stands out with the top matchup. The Colts currently allow the seventh-fewest yards to opposing wide receivers (549). Meanwhile, the Colts have allowed the fifth-most catches to opposing tight ends, creating an advantageous spot for Kelce, who currently ranks fourth among tight ends with 8.3 targets per game.

T.Y. Hilton ($12,500) - Projected to return from a quad injury, T.Y. Hilton returned to a limited practice this week. When healthy, Hilton averaged 8.3 targets per game, with seven red zone targets. The Chiefs currently rank sixth in pass defense, according to our schedule-adjusted metrics. However, they sit in the middle of the pack in yardage allowed to opposing passing attacks. Projected to trail throughout this game, Hilton provides salary relief at low ownership on this single-game slate.

Value Picks

Mecole Hardman ($9,500) - For those looking for a cheap attachment to Mahomes, Mecole Hardman looks like the cheapest option on this slate. Hardman played 63 percent of the Chiefs' snaps each of the last two games while recording 10 total targets. Indianapolis plays solid pass defense against wide receivers, but Hardman's price keeps him in consideration on this slate.

Jack Doyle ($7,500) - Returning from an injury-riddled 2018, Jack Doyle continues to play about 70 percent of the Colts' snaps each week. Doyle also quietly saw eight targets last week, with an increasing role in the pass game. Looking to this week, Doyle faces off against a Chiefs' defense that is allowing the fifth-most yards to opposing tight ends. A solid salary saving option, Doyle deserves consideration here.

Deon Cain ($5,000) - For those looking for a complete punt play, Deon Cain fits the bill. Looking back to Week 3 with T.Y. Hilton playing, Cain still logged the second-most snaps among the Colts' wide receivers. Cain only has eight targets in his last two games, but he has the second-highest average depth of target on the Colts (11.3). This creates the possibility for a big play and keeps him in consideration at $5,000.
