FanDuel Single-Game Daily Fantasy Football Helper: Week 16 Monday Night

The Green Bay Packers head up to the Twin Cities to take on the Minnesota Vikings, where playoff seeding is up for grabs.

For those unfamiliar, single-game slates feature five flex spots with identical scoring to the main slate. However, kickers are included in these contests, and there is an "MVP" roster slot. The MVP receives 1.5-times his total fantasy points, making this spot crucial.

Bookmakers currently have the home Vikings as -5.5-point favorites and the over/under set at 47 points. Despite being home favorites, the Vikings are only receiving 9% of the bets and 13% of the money, according to oddsFire.

MVP Considerations

Mike Boone ($12,000) - If you have been following fantasy football in any capacity over the past week, you have heard the name Mike Boone. He is the third-string running back for Vikings and is now set to be the starter because Dalvin Cook is ruled out and Alexander Mattison is also likely out. You aren't getting a discount on him because he played last week and posted 56 yards and 2 touchdowns on 13 carries. He is in line for plenty of carries and should be able to produce solid fantasy points against the Packers, who are allowing 24.3 FanDuel points per game to running backs -- the seventh-most in the league.

He is the starter, he is going to be popular tonight, and he has a great matchup to attack. There is plenty to like for a player who is seeing the majority of the snaps, making him a great pick for the MVP spot.

Kirk Cousins ($15,000) - Cousins is 0-8 lifetime on Monday Night Football, and he has a chance to get on the winning side against his division rivals tonight. Cousins has under 300 yards and only 4 total touchdowns over his last three games, but that is part of the reason I like him in the MVP spot. He doesn't put up a ton of FanDuel points on a weekly basis, and he kinda needs the 1.5x to help boost his floor of points.

You are paying a premium price tag for a player who isn't producing massive numbers. The Vikings are home favorites -- but as noted above -- the majority of the money is on the Packers moneyline. If this causes the Vikings to be playing from behind, the passing game will come into play over the rushing game.

Davante Adams ($14,500) - The Vikings' secondary isn't as good as it once was, and Adams shouldn't have an issue posting fantasy points tonight. Adams missed a portion of the season due to an injury but did play against the Vikings in Week 2. In that game, he saw 9 targets for 7 receptions and 106 scoreless yards: strong production from the Packers' number one receiver, who saw Xavier Rhodes on nearly 70% of his routes. Rhodes might be a good corner, but overall, the Vikings' secondary is lacking this season, allowing 31.8 FanDuel points per game to wide receivers -- the seventh-most in the league.

Value Plays

Ameer Abdullah ($6,000) - Abdullah is the backup running back for the Vikings tonight. I didn't think that was something I would put into words this season, but due to the injuries on the Vikings, he is in a spot to see a decent amount of touches. He played on 23% of the snaps last week and saw 5 total touches. That's not amazing, but last week against the Los Angeles Chargers, four running backs saw snaps for the Vikings.

We have Abdullah projected for over 10 total touches tonight, and he comes in as our best-projected value play on the slate. If he does get that volume of touches, he should be able to produce against the Packers defense, who are allowing the seventh-most FanDuel points (24.3) per game to running backs this season.

Jamaal Williams ($7,000) - Williams is the clear backup to Aaron Jones and is splitting time (roughly 60% to 40% in favor of Jones). Williams comes in as our second-best value option under $10,000 -- after Abdullah -- and is also projected for over 10 total touches. Williams also offers a bit of leverage against Jones, who should be higher-owned. Williams also sees a decent amount of work in the passing game -- four or more targets in three of his last six games -- giving him some upside if the Vikings live up to the point spread.

Kyle Rudolph ($7,000) - With Adam Thielen back in the lineup for the Vikings, secondary options for them could be seeing limited production. The Vikings didn't need to pass the ball a ton last week, and that meant all of their pass-catchers had modest games. Thielen was back in the lineup and played 51% of the snaps, seeing three targets in that time. Rudolph was on the field for 54% of the snaps and also saw three targets. I'm not saying that trend will continue, but Rudolph has a matchup worth attacking because the Packers are allowing 10.8 FanDuel points per game to tight ends this season -- the 11th-most in the league.
