3 Fantasy Football Tight End Streamer Options for Week 15

Chigoziem Okonkwo's career-best day on Sunday might just be a sign of things to come. Which other tight ends make sense off the wire this week?

The tight end position isn't overflowing with depth. Instead, it's still top-heavy. So, those of you who kicked the can down the road at the position instead of investing in an elite tight end might dabble in the streamer waters. Some of you came out of drafts with the intention of streaming.

No matter the path to this point, those who need help identifying widely available tight ends to help their fantasy squad each week have found the correct spot. This is your weekly home for streaming options. Here are three choices for this week.

Taysom Hill, New Orleans Saints

Taysom Hill is obviously not a traditional tight end. The converted quarterback is still frequently used as a runner from the quarterback position and occasionally passes, too. Hill has rushed at least 3 times in his previous 4 games -- and 11 of 12 contests this year. The versatile weapon has had more than 50 rushing yards four times.

He's also attempted at least one pass in nine straight games. Frankly, Hill's usage as a pass-catching weapon has trailed his rushing and passing work for most of the season. However, Hill had season highs for targets (3), receptions (2), and receiving yards (35) in Week 13, scoring a touchdown on a 30-yard reception.

Hill hasn't been a big producer in the box scores as a receiver. However, he's quietly carved out a minor role for running routes. According to Pro Football Focus (PFF), Hill ran 15 routes in Week 12 and 13 in Week 13, his highest and second-highest route totals this year. The New Orleans Saints' do-it-all weapon has run at least 11 routes in five of his last six games after failing to reach double-digit routes in his first six games.

Hill has various paths to fantasy relevance, and he had 81 rushing yards, 1 touchdown, 1 reception, and 2 receiving yards in the first meeting against the Atlanta Falcons in New Orleans' season opener. So, he's already gotten the better of this week's foe in 2022. There's essentially no such thing as a safe option among widely available tight ends. Thus, gamers who need help at the position should swing for the fences and use Hill.

Chigoziem Okonkwo, Tennessee Titans

Treylon Burks was concussed early in Week 13 and missed last week's game while he was in the NFL's concussion protocol. It remains to be seen when he'll clear the concussion protocol. However, fellow rookie Chigoziem Okonkwo has made the most of his increased role for the Tennessee Titans. Okonkwo set his season high for routes in Week 13, running 20. Then, he broke that mark last week, running 24.

Okonkwo parlayed his increased participation into 11 targets, 10 receptions, 113 receiving yards, and 1 touchdown in his last two games. The rookie tight end has had more than 30 receiving yards in his previous six games. Okonkwo also has eye-catching underlying metrics this year.

First, he's been targeted on 25 percent of his routes. Second, per PFF, Okonkwo is first in yards per route run (2.58 Y/RR) and fourth in yards after the catch per reception (8.2) out of 38 tight ends who've been targeted at least 25 times this year.

The Titans desperately need juice in their passing attack. So, Okonkwo might maintain a meaningful role in the offense if Burks returns this week. Still, if Burks is out again, Okonkwo's role should be safer, enhancing his floor and ceiling.

Jelani Woods, Indianapolis Colts

The three-man rotation at tight end for the Indianapolis Colts is a nightmare for fantasy. Before the team's bye in Week 14, Kylen Granson led the Colts in routes, running 22 in Week 13. The second-year tight end inefficiently turned six targets into four receptions for 19 scoreless yards. Might his underwhelming showing open the door for Jelani Woods to receive a post-bye bump?

The big-bodied rookie tight end had two receptions for 28 yards on just 11 routes and 3 targets in Week 13. And, of course, he blew up for eight receptions and 98 yards in Week 12. Matt Ryan has an affinity for targeting Woods when he's on the field. Woods was targeted on 31.6 percent of his routes in his previous two games.

Unfortunately, Woods' floor is low if he comes out of the bye and draws the short straw in a three-person committee. However, if Woods receives even a modest bump in playing time, he can help fantasy squads.

Finally, Jeff Saturday confirmed Matty Ice would start this week against the Minnesota Vikings. So, his popgun arm should result in the veteran signal-caller continuing to pepper Woods with targets when he's on the field. As a result, Woods is a defensible option for gamers in deep leagues who need a tight end.
