Chiefs choose Clyde Edwards-Helaire with last pick of first
The Kansas City Chiefs selected LSU running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire with the 32nd overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Chiefs general manager Brett Veach said Edwards-Helaire "reminds me of Brian Westbrook" and that head coach Andy Reid thinks he's even better than that. Westbrook averaged 71.0 catches over a five-year stretch under Reid and Patrick Mahomes is elite at targeting running backs, setting Edwards-Helaire up for tremendous success. A one-year starter at LSU, Edwards-Helaire earned first-team All-SEC honors as a true junior after rushing for 1,414 yards and 16 touchdowns on 6.6 yards per carry. He also caught 55 passes on 64 targets for 453 yards and 1 touchdown. Edwards-Helaire's arrival in Kansas City puts a damper on Damien Williams' 2020 outlook.
CEH was the most valuable running back in college football in Pro Football Focus' wins above average (WAA). He was the 13th most valuable player regardless of position and 3rd most valuable non-quarterback.
