J.K. Dobbins viewed by Ravens as 'three-down back'
Baltimore Ravens second-round running back J.K. Dobbins is "a three-down back" in the eyes of general manager Eric DeCosta.
"We think he's a three-down back," DeCosta said. "He's been extremely durable. He's an outstanding fit for what we like to do." This comes just a couple of days after DeCosta said it would have been "irresponsible" to leave Dobbins on the board in the second round. Mark Ingram is still expected to open the year as the Ravens' lead back, but it seems like a matter of when, not if, Dobbins will take over. Ingram averaged 15.2 touches per game last season.
Dobbins was a three-year starter at Ohio State who broke the school rushing record (2,003 yards) as a true junior last season. He averaged 6.7 yards per carry and found the end zone 21 times. Dobbins also led his draft class with 20 gains of 20-plus yards.
