Panthers bench Cam Newton for Sam Darnold in Week 16
The Carolina Panthers have replaced Cam Newton with Sam Darnold in Sunday's Week 16 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Newton threw an interception in the first quarter, which was enough for head coach Matt Rhule to pull him from Sunday's game. Darnold will take over for now, though don't be surprised if Newton re-enters the game at some point.
As of this writing, Newton has completed 6 passes on 9 attempts for 52 yards and an interceptions, and has added 42 yards on 4 carries.
