Chiefs' Rashee Rice receiving most first-team reps

Kansas City Chiefs rookie wide receiver Rashee Rice has received the most reps with the first-team offense since Kadarius Toney's knee injury, per Nate Taylor of The Athletic.

What It Means:

Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy said Rice is making improvements every day as he works through his first NFL training camp. Toney is uncertain for Week 1 and the Chiefs have one of the least-talented receiver groups in the league, so Rice could earn a significant role to start the season. The other wideouts competing for roles are Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Skyy Moore, Richie James, Justin Watson, and Justyn Ross.

Rice is currently the WR57 in numberFire's preseason rankings and our models project him for 70.9 targets, fourth-most among Chiefs wide receivers, with 46.1 receptions, 628.3 yards, and 4.49 touchdowns. MVS (WR46), Toney (WR49), and Moore (WR51) are the three Chiefs receivers ranked ahead of Rice.
