D.J. Chark developing deep-ball chemistry at Panthers camp
Carolina Panthers wide receiver D.J. Chark has emerged as the go-to deep-ball target for Bryce Young, per Joseph Person of The Athletic.
According to multiple reports, Chark and Young are developing quick rapport, especially on deep balls. “He’s earned the trust of Bryce,” Panthers receivers coach Shawn Jefferson said of Chark. “Any time Bryce sees him out there one-on-one, Bryce is gonna take a chance. He’s earned that right from Bryce.” Chark averaged a career-high 9.7 yards per target in 2022 during a one-year stint with the Detroit Lions, but he was limited to 11 games by an ankle injury. The Panthers signed Chark to a one-year deal in March.
Chark is the WR53 in numberFire's preseason rankings, which is the highest among Panthers receivers. Our models project him for 87.5 targets, 49.5 receptions, 680.2 yards, and 3.94 touchdowns.
