Austin Ekeler signs 2-year deal with Washington Commanders
The Washington Commanders are signing free agent running back Austin Ekeler to a 2-year contract worth up to $11.43 million, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports.
Ekeler scored a whopping 69 touchdowns with the Chargers since joining the team as an undrafted free agent in 2017, and will look to bounce back from an injury-marred 2023 campaign. He should be expected to split reps with Brian Robinson.
Ekeler offers a hard-to-find three-down skillset that should benefit the Commanders' offense in 2024. He will provide a significant upgrade over Antonio Gibson, who signed with the Patriots as a free agent.
