Brandin Cooks (knee) expected to return Week 3 for Cowboys
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Brandin Cooks (knee) is expected to play Week 3 against the Arizona Cardinals.
Cooks sat out Week 2 with a slight MCL sprain, but the plan is for him to be limited in practice on Wednesday and upgraded to full on Thursday. That would put Cooks on track to suit up for Sunday's plus matchup against the Cardinals. Jalen Tolbert will likely lose the most playing time in Week 3 if Cooks is cleared to return.
Cooks played 58.6% of the offensive snaps and caught 2 passes on 4 targets for 22 yards in the Cowboys' regular-season opener. Tolbert's snap rate increased from 27.6% in Week 1 to 67.8% with Cooks sidelined, but he only gained 18 yards on 4 targets while CeeDee Lamb (13 targets) and Tony Pollard (8) dominated most of the passing work. The Cowboys are favored by nearly two touchdowns over the Cardinals in Week 3, so the receivers could have a ceiling if the game gets out of hand early.
