Travis Kelce (ankle) set to practice Tuesday for Chiefs
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce (ankle) will practice on Tuesday, per head coach Andy Reid.
Kelce was listed as a non-participant on Monday's estimated practice report due to a low-ankle sprain he suffered in Sunday's win over the Minnesota Vikings. The veteran managed to play through the pain and still finished with 10 catches on 11 targets for 67 yards and a touchdown. The Chiefs have a short turnaround for a Week 6 home matchup with the Denver Broncos, but Kelce will be on track to play if he makes it through Tuesday's practice without any issue. Noah Gray will step in at tight end if Kelce is ruled out for the second time this season.
Gray played a season-high 54 offensive snaps in Week 1 versus the Detrot Lions without Kelce and tied Kadarius Toney and Rashee Rice for the team-lead with 5 targets. Rice and Blake Bell managed to find the end zone in that outing, but nobody on the Chiefs reached 50 receiving yards. The Chiefs will have a much easier matchup on Thursday versus a Broncos team that has the worst overall defense and worst passing defense in the NFL, per numberFire's opponent-adjusted NEP model.
