Lions' Sam LaPorta (knee) 'trending' towards suiting up Sunday
The NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta (knee) is "trending in the right direction" and "intends to be out there with his team" for the Lions' Wild Card game against the Los Angeles Rams.
LaPorta suffered a bone bruise and a hyperextended knee injury in the Lions' Week 18 game against the Vikings and initially appeared to be in danger of missing the team's first playoff since 2016. However, the breakout rookie was able to return to practice in a limited fashion this week and now appears to be on track to play in some capacity against the Rams. Fantasy managers will want to monitor his status during the team's pregame warmups for an indication of his intended usage during the game.
LaPorta has a $7,300 salary on FanDuel and is currently projected for 5.7 fantasy points under the expectations that he could be limited by his injury. Those projections have him catching 2.6 passes for 27.9 yards and 0.3 scores.
