5 NHL FanDuel Values to Target on 1/7/20

Igor Shesterkin is a minimum-priced goaltender who could have appealing upside tonight. Which other low-cost players could pop?

If you follow the NHL, you already know all of the top players. Obviously, when playing DFS, those players will come at a high cost. In this article, we are looking to find the cheaper value plays to help you afford the superstars

Christian Dvorak, Center, Arizona Coyotes

FanDuel Price: $4,100

Christian Dvorak is playing on the top line with recent acquisition Taylor Hall as well as Conor Garland. In addition to the spot at even strength, Dvorak is also a fixture on the team's top power-play unit, which ranks 13th, converting on 19.9 percent of their opportunities.

The Arizona Coyotes visit the Florida Panthers, who are rolling with backup goaltender Chris Driedger as their $10 million dollar goaltender continues to struggle.

Ilya Kovalchuk, Winger, Montreal Canadiens

FanDuel Price: $3,000

After a disastrous stint in Los Angeles, Ilya Kovalchuk is hoping to put a much better spin on the end of his career as he attempts to pick up the pieces with the Montreal Canadiens. He started on a line at even strength with Phillip Danault and Tomas Tatar last night and seemed to have a decent game. He fired off four shots, picked up an assist and played almost 20 minutes. That is quite the uptick from the 15:25 he was playing in Los Angeles. At this price, he's well worth a darth throw.

Jakub Vrana, Winger, Washington Capitals

FanDuel Price: $4,800

Jakub Vrana continues to impress in his fourth season in the NHL, totaling 18 goals and 34 points in 43 games. He's playing with Evgeny Kuznetsov and T.J. Oshie at even strength, which is a great line to be on, but unfortunately, he plays on the lesser-used second power-play unit.

The matchup is great against the Ottawa Senators, who are likely to have Craig Anderson in net. His struggles are evident with just a .900% save percentage and an ugly 3.12 goals against average (GAA).

Devon Toews, Defense, New York Islanders

FanDuel Price: $3,600

Devon Toews is a solid, cheap option who can produce a bit of offense as well as contribute in the peripheral stats. This is a pretty bargain price for Toews as he does play on the New York Islanders' top power-play unit. He has just 14 points in 41 games, but his 76 shots and 43 blocks are decent for a defenseman.

The Islanders visit the New Jersey Devils, a team with a mediocre penalty kill -- fending off 80.5 percent of their penalties, which ranks 19th in the NHL. In addition, the Devils allow 3.41 goals per game, the second-most in the NHL.

Igor Shesterkin, Goaltender, New York Rangers

FanDuel Price: $7,000

Tonight the New York Rangers will have Igor Shesterkin making his NHL debut as the Rangers host the Colorado Avalanche, a team on the tail-end of a back-to-back. The young goaltender has been dominating at the AHL with a 1.93 GAA and a .932% save percentage to go along with three shutouts.

The Avs are a very difficult matchup, but given that the Rangers are on home ice and the Avs played last night, there is plenty of upside for Shesterkin.
