NHL Daily Fantasy Helper: Tuesday 2/18/20
A good chunk of you played daily fantasy football this year, and I'd be willing to bet a significant portion of you have also tried out daily fantasy basketball and baseball. But hockey? Hockey?
It's time to give it a try over on FanDuel because it's a ton of fun.
Our analysis and projections can help you win. To help, let's take a look at a goalie, some high-priced skaters, and lower-priced players to target for today's slate.
Goalie to Target
Jordan Binnington ($8,200): The St. Louis Blues' goaltender will start against a New Jersey Devils team that is just 12-16 on the road this season while averaging only 2.46 goals per game. St. Louis, as a team, has struggled as they have lost five straight. Also, Binnington has yielded three or more goals in eight of his last nine starts. The goaltender's price has come down enough to make him a worthwhile start, though. The only risk may be shot volume as New Jersey struggles to hit the net consistently (28 shots per game over the past six contests). Connor Hellebuyck ($7,800) is a viable alternative against the Los Angeles Kings, a team scoring only 2.26 goals per game on the road.
High-Priced Skaters
Sidney Crosby ($8,600): The Pittsburgh Penguins' center has 26 or more FanDuel points in consecutive games and rides a four-game point streak into a date with Toronto on Tuesday night. Overall, the Maple Leafs yield 3.37 goals per game away from home, and Frederik Andersen gave up five tallies in his last start. Toronto's penalty kill has faltered a bit in the last month and is at a paltry 75% on the road. Pittsburgh's power play clicks at 20.5% overall and has looked better of late. Jack Eichel ($8,200) is also in a good spot versus Ottawa tonight as Buffalo tries to stay in the playoff hunt.
Patrik Laine ($8,000): Laine is consistently putting up shots on net -- 18 in his last three contests, including 11 scoring chances and an assist. Winnipeg should have an easy time generating opportunities against the Los Angeles Kings, who give up 3.38 goals a night. Laine is a streaky winger, but with this much volume, pucks are bound to start finding their way into the back of the net. Los Angeles has a penalty kill which functions at 75.6% overall and just 73.8% on the road. Elsewhere, Filip Forsberg ($6,800) could be a sneaky secondary option on Tuesday for the Nashville Predators.
Value Skaters
Anthony Duclair ($4,200): This is a slightly risky play but Duclair has 15 shots in his last five games including six against the Dallas Stars on Sunday night. He also had an assist but has not scored in 12 games for the Ottawa Senators.The winger faces a Buffalo team with one of the league's worst penalty kills that gives up a goal on every four times shorthanded. This is a Sabres team that can implode at any time and Duclair's speed could cause Buffalo fits defensively. Jonathan Drouin ($4,000) is an intriguing option especially if Brendan Gallagher does not play due to a lower-body injury.
Ben Chiarot ($3,700): The Montreal Canadiens defenseman has stayed around this price almost all season, which means he is still useful tonight with the Canadiens' defensive pairings mostly in flux. He was able to handle the 25+ minutes of ice time (25:07 in the overtime loss to Dallas over the weekend. His stat line featured a goal, five shots, and four blocked shots. Again, Jeff Petry and Shea Weber are far more visible but Chiarot again could carry more value per dollar. Justin Faulk could be a player to watch out for from St. Louis as well.
