4 NHL FanDuel Studs to Target on Thursday 11/2/21
In any daily fantasy lineup, spending up in any daily fantasy lineup is how to get the superstars and the highest upside players in your lineup.
In NHL DFS, it’s different from paying up in sports like NBA or NFL. Someone can be one of the highest salaried players at his position and put up a total dud of a performance, and paying that much for him would be a huge mistake. Let’s make sure we are paying up in the right spots when building our lineups tonight.
Tuesday night has nine games in all, so let's find some of the best studs available.
Sean Couturier, Center, Philadelphia Flyers
FanDuel Salary: $7,600
The Philadelphia Flyers have the best matchup Tuesday against the winless Arizona Coyotes. Sean Couturier should be one of the centers at the top of our lists. He is projected third among centers, per ouer model, and arguably could top that list when this night is done.
The Flyers are a rather good team when the offense is fully clicking. Couturier is averaging 3.2 shots and 3.4 scoring chances per night and has seven real-world points in his last five games.
Philly's projected goal total of 3.12 isn't amazing, but Arizona has one of the worst penalty kills in recent memory. At the very least, there should be plenty of Flyers' scoring chances via the special teams.
Kyle Connor, Wing, Winnipeg Jets
FanDuel Salary: $8,900
Kyle Connor gets a reasonable matchup against the Dallas Stars. Connor had five real-world points on a recent road trip, amassing 15 shots and 12 scoring chances. While Dallas typically plays a solid brand of defense, the Winnipeg Jets just play at a different level.
The Jets have a projected goal total of 3.76, which is a slate-high mark, and they have had success against the Western Conference teams. Even on a slower night to end the Jets' West Coast trip, Connor created a ton of havoc in San Jose and still wound up with 21.6 FanDuel points.
Connor is easy to stack with value forward Andrew Copp and/or defensemen like Josh Morrissey and Neal Pionk.
Dougie Hamilton, Defenseman, New Jersey Devils
FanDuel Salary: $7,100
Dougie Hamilton has been the anchor defenseman the New Jersey Devils desperately needed. He had 10 shots on Sunday evening against the Columbus Blue Jackets in addition to four blocked shots. He even cleared away a sure goal out of the crease. That was the third such time Hamilton has done that this season.
So, Hamilton's floor is always there. He has four-plus shots on goal in each of his last four games, totaling five real-world points in that span. His shot just tends to get through a lot (67% rate in this span). When the defenseman is on the ice, New Jersey outshoots its opponents by more than a 2-to-1 ratio. Scoring chances per 60 are at right around the same rate.
With a propensity to fire shots on goal and going up against a COVID-ravaged Sharks team, Hamilton is in a fantastic spot.
Igor Shesterkin, Goalie, New York Rangers
FanDuel Salary: $8,500
Igor Shesterkin is expected to get another start, this time against the Vancouver Canucks.
The Canucks have had their issues scoring goals. They are projected to score just 2.75 tonight. Shesterkin has a 1.70 goals-against average and a .948 save percentage. The Russian goaltender has stolen several points on this trip already. His 5-1-1 record has buoyed the New York Rangers to one of their best starts in years.
