3 Daily Fantasy NHL Stacks for Wednesday 11/9/22

In daily fantasy hockey, stacking is a key strategy in tournaments. We want to correlate our lineups with up to four players to maximize our upside -- if one player on a line is scoring goals, it's likely that his linemates are getting assists, as well.

Ideally, we want players who will get a lot of ice time together on an even-strength line and a power-play line. Two good resources for line combinations are LeftWingLock.com and DailyFaceoff.com, so be sure to check those sites for updated line information.

We've only got four games on Wednesday, but the small slates with fewer options to stack can be fun to focus on a few teams to stack when building lineups.

Pittsburgh Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins are going through a rough stretch right now. After starting off the season great, they've since lost seven games in a row. This has caused their salaries to drop, and tonight they are in a situation where they could bounce back.

After all these years, Sidney Crosby ($8,600) still remains an elite player in the league. He's leading the Pens with 14 points in 12 games. Jake Guentzel ($7,600) missed a few games earlier but paces the team with 1.25 points per game. Bryan Rust ($6,100) is a huge value for a good player who will play on the top line and top power play with a playmaker like Crosby. This line is fully correlated across the top power play, making them all great options.

The Penguins will face their rivals, the Washington Capitals. Washington is still without their top two defensemen in John Carlson and Dmitry Orlov. They allowed four goals on Monday in the first game with those two out of the lineup.

This is a great buy-low spot for the Penguins, and their 3.42 implied team total reflects that. If you want another piece to use with the stack, Kris Letang ($6,000) is also at a discounted salary for being one of the best offensive defensemen in the league.

Minnesota Wild

The Minnesota Wild were one of the most fun teams to stack last season. They were fifth in the NHL in goals per game (3.72). This season, they are down to 2.83 goals per game and haven't scored in their last two games. They have an opportunity to rebound against the league's worst defensive team.

The best player on the Wild remains Kirill Kaprizov ($9,800). He leads the team with eight goals in 12 games and can't be blamed for the Wild's scoring struggles. Mats Zuccarello ($7,800) is his partner in crime, and he has only one fewer point than the Russian superstar. Frederick Gaudreau ($4,300) is the even-strength center with this line but is listed as a wing on FanDuel. If you want an easier stack positionally, you could use Joel Eriksson Ek ($7,500) for power-play correlation.

Minnesota will play the Anaheim Ducks tonight. The Wild are on a back-to-back but won't have to travel after playing in Los Angeles last night. The Ducks have allowed a staggering 4.62 goals per game, the most in the league. If Minnesota can't score against them, they have serious issues.

With a legit star in Kaprizov in a great matchup, the Wild definitely have the upside to be the best stack on the slate.

Vancouver Canucks

The Vancouver Canucks have strung together some nice performances after a dismal start. Forward depth is the strength of the team, and it makes them an interesting squad to stack.

The Canucks' players have seen their salaries climb up very high for this slate. It makes Bo Horvat at $10,000 a tough play, especially since he's on the third line with no power-play correlation. The only line with power-play correlation is the second. That has Elias Pettersson ($9,400) playing with Andrei Kuzmenko ($7,300) and Ilya Mikheyev ($5,400). Pettersson has been great lately with 13 points in his last 10 games. Kuzmenko has started off his rookie year well, netting seven goals so far. These two also play together on the first power-play unit.

Vancouver is on the road to face the Montreal Canadiens. Montreal has been a little better than expected this season but is still struggling. They've allowed the second-most expected goals per 60 minutes.

The Canucks have the highest implied team total on tonight's slate, and the second line is definitely the best value as well as the best correlation. Quinn Hughes ($7,100) has 11 assists in his last seven games and is worth considering at defense as a part of this stack.
