5 NFL Red Zone Trends to Monitor for Week 12
Saquon Barkley Is Trending Up Even More
Through the first nine weeks of the season, Saquon Barkley saw more than three red zone opportunities in only two games, with none more recently than Week 4. In those eight games, Barkley tallied only 25 opportunities, averaging 3.1 per game and accounting for a solid but unspectacular 33.3% market share.
The last two weeks have seen him set new season-highs each week, with seven opportunities in Week 10 and nine in Week 11. His market share was north of 33.3% in each of those games (46.7% and 81.8%), and they bring his season-long market share up to 40.1%, ranking fourth in the NFL.
The New York Giants have tallied at least 11 red zone opportunities in four of their last five games (with a still-strong 9 in the fifth game), averaging 13.2 per game in that stretch.
With this increase in available volume coinciding with an increase in market share, Barkley appeared due to bounce back from back-to-back scoreless games, and he did so in a big way with three touchdowns in Week 11.
Obviously another three-touchdown game isn't likely, but Barkley is pairing some elite touchdown upside to go with the high floor that his overall volume numbers have afforded him.
