Week 2 NFL Advanced Analytics Superstars
Tight End: Rob Gronkowski
Rob Gronkowski, TE, New England Patriots
7 Receptions, 113 Yards, 13 Targets, 1 TD
NEP: +10.03
It wouldn't take long for numberFire wunderkind Rob Gronkowski to be the weekly leading NEP tight end.
Despite being Week 1's leading fantasy producer, the efficiency numbers just weren't there for Gronk to overtake Tyler Eifert's Week 1 breakthrough.
On an afternoon where quarterback Tom Brady threw for 466 passing yards, you had to know a large majority would find their way to Brady's best playmaker. Gronkowski was able to haul in 7 receptions for 113 receiving yards on 13 targets and a touchdown. Against a highly-touted Bills defense, Brady and Gronk were able to exploit mismatches all afternoon in this high-scoring 40-32 affair.
Gronk has once again established himself as the league's top tight end by numberFire's metrics -- an honor that he's had multiple times finishing as the leader among tight ends in both 2011 and 2014. Gronk just missed leading all tight ends in fantasy points as Baltimore's Crockett Gilmore narrowly escaped with that honor after posting 25.8 fantasy points compared to Gronk's 24.3. Much like the running backs, this week's top tight ends featured some surprising results after most of Week 1's studs fell back to regression.
