Week 2 NFL Advanced Analytics Superstars
Wide Receiver: Antonio Brown
Antonio Brown, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers
9 Receptions, 195 Yards, 11 Targets, 1 TD
NEP: +18.15
Not only was Antonio Brown this week's leader in receiving yards, but he was also the most efficient per numberFire's metrics.
A week after it seemed like all of the league's top tight ends took center stage in terms of productivity, Week 2 was the wide receivers' turn. This week, 16 wide receivers crossed the 100-yard threshold (only 6 did during Week 1) with Brown paving the way by means of his 9 receptions for 195 yards.
It shouldn't come that much of a surprise that the week's best quarterback was buoyed by the week's best receiver. The duo of Roethlisberger and Brown have now extended their 5-catch, 50-yard record now to 34 straight games. It's been mentioned several times, but it bears repeating again. Antonio Brown is playing at a Hall of Fame level as one of the best in the business.
Finishing just behind Larry Fitzgerald after a career-high three-touchdown performance, Brown narrowly missed ranking as the top numberFire NEP and fantasy wide receiver this week. I doubt that Brown owners will complain though with a 36.5 PPR outing. The rest of the top receivers also fared well from both a metric and fantasy perspective, with a surprisingly effective game by Leonard Hankerson as he converted some big third-down conversions to boost his NEP, while finishing with 6 receptions for 77 yards and a touchdown.
