Chargers reportedly "optimistic" Austin Ekeler (hamstring) can play Week 1
The Los Angeles Chargers are "optimistic" that running back Austin Ekeler will play in Sunday's Week 1 matchup against the Washington Football Team, according to Doug Kyed of Pro Football Focus.
Ekeler is dealing with a hamstring injury, and that's coming off a 2020 campaign in which he missed six games with hamstring issues. While the team will likely take caution with the star running back this early in the season, Kyed reports that barring a setback, he should suit up Sunday. Keep an eye on his status in the coming days. Should Ekeler sit, the trio of Justin Jackson, Joshua Kelly and Larry Rountree would likely split work.
Our models currently project Ekeler for 59.1 rushing yards, 35.7 receiving yards, 0.5 total touchdowns and 15.0 FanDuel points.
