Giants' Daniel Jones (neck) still not cleared for contact
New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones (neck) still hasn't been cleared for contact on Friday, per head coach Brian Daboll.
Daboll didn't give Jones an official injury designation, but it sounds like Tyrod Taylor is heading for another start on Sunday versus the Washington Commanders. Wan'Dale Robinson (knee) led the Giants in targets (8) with Taylor under center last week, followed by Darren Waller (7), and Darius Slayton (5). The offense continued to struggle with efficiency, but there wasn't a notable drop-off from Jones to Taylor.
Jones is averaging negative-0.27 Passing Net Expected points drop back this season while Taylor is averaging 0.12. Among the 35 quarterbacks with at least 50 drop backs, Jones ranks last in Passing NEP per attempt while Taylor is 13th. The Commanders are allowing the third-most FanDuel points per game to quarterbacks this season and their pass defense is sixth-worst in the NFL, according to numberFire's opponent-adjusted NEP model.
